
The department of Psychiatric (Mental Health) nursing aims to provide quality education in Psychiatric Nursing to Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate Nursing Programmes. The department conducts research to promote mental health and prevent mental illness to individuals, their families, and communities. It provides Evidence-Based Nursing care for mentally ill patients in focus on Promotive, Preventive, and Rehabilitative aspects. The department faculty and students collaborate with the multidisciplinary team of the hospital to carry out mental health promotional activities to the community. The department is committed to providing opportunities for the professional growth of the faculty.
The departmental faculty and students actively participate in community extension activities. The department observes World Alzheimer's Week and World Mental health week every Year in order to create awareness to the general public. The department also provides a Life skill training Programme for Freshers and NSS Volunteers of the college.
The students are given the best clinical exposure at K.S.Hegde Hospital in all speciality areas. Second-year P.G. students are sent to speciality hospitals like Narayana Hrudayalaya, Shri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology, Bangalore and B.M. Birla Institute of Cardiology and Research centre Kolkata.
